The Hortus is open

The Hortus Amsterdam is an outdoor location. This means that the Hortus can remain open to visitors. A visitors reservation is mandatory. The cafe is closed but we offer take away coffee. In the indoor spaces, such as the greenhouses and shop, there is a duty to wear a safety face mask.

Visit us by bike, car or on foot. Do not use public transport to avoid overcrowding the public transport network.

Book a time slot online

Due to the measures surrounding the coronavirus, we are able to welcome a limited number of visitors every hour. To visit the Hortus, it is mandatory to book a starting time of visit; within these 30 minutes you can enter the garden, after which you can stay in the Hortus for as long as you want. Members of the ‘Vrienden van de Hortus’ association  also have to make a reservation. You can reserve a start time in our online ticketshop.

This way we can also avoid long queues and crowds at the checkout. The safety and health of visitors and employees is of paramount importance during a visit.

Guidelines to your Hortus visit

By selling a limited number of tickets per time slot, we can offer all our visitors a safe and easy walk through the garden. The Hortus has taken various measures to guarantee the safety of our visitors and employees.

In order to guarantee all our visitors a safe visit, some rules of conduct have been set up:
• If your company does not share a household, we ask you to follow the RIVM measures.
• On footpaths there is always a 1.5 meter distance to others.
• When using the benches, keep in mind the distance and space to other visitors.
• By national regulations, face masks our mandatory in all indoor spaces such as our greenhouses and shop
• Touch as few doors as possible and use the hygiene facilities in the garden where you can wash your hands.
• Show respect to our employees. To be able to carry out their work safely, you may have to walk around or wait a while.
• For narrow paths, one-way traffic applies; we ask you to follow the green arrows in the garden.
• Due to the small space, the Butterfly Greenhouse is temporarily not accessible to the public.
• The Hortuscafé has a small take away menu.
• The store is also open, because of the small space a limited number of people are allowed.
• Please follow the instructions of our staff.

We would like to point out that our regular house rules also apply when visiting the Hortus. Within the gates of the Hortus the current safety and contact measures of the government apply.

The Hortus has set up an extensive protocol containing measures and conditions to be open to visitors and employees with attention to safety and hygiene. The complete protocol (in Dutch) can be read HERE.

Also stay at home if one of the family members has these symptoms.

Visit us by bike, car or on foot. Do not use public transport to avoid overcrowding the public transport network. Nearby parking facilities are Markenhoven and Stadhuis – Muziektheater.
