In the heart of the bustling city, the Hortus offers a spacious, green setting with the unique backdrop of its botanical garden. The Hortus has several spaces available for the wedding ceremony, reception, a toast, and dinner.

Celebrate your wedding at the most natural location in Amsterdam. Surrounded by extraordinary tropical plants, the Hortus is a unique venue to exchange your official vows. The ceremony can take place after the garden’s closing time (from 17:15) in the Palm House.
The Hortus is an official wedding location. To reserve a date and arrange all legal matters for your ceremony, please contact the Civil Affairs department of Amsterdam-Centrum.

Reception and dinner
In the Orangery, two rooms and a charming terrace are available for receptions and dinners. The café, with its tall windows, exotic palms, and wall coverings by artist Claudy Jongstra, creates a unique atmosphere. Glass doors provide direct access to the large terrace, sided by an evergreen oak.
Need an extra space? A dressing room? Extra seating? The Laranjazaal, located on the upper floor of the Orangery, is also available for hire.

Hortus extras
During your event, treat guests to a guided tour of the garden. Our guides will be happy to show visitors remarkable plants, night-blooming flowers, and centuries-old trees. You can even choose a theme, such as love or edible plants. Tours are available in several languages.
