Bird watching in the Hortus

9 May - 23 May

Bird watching in the Hortus

The Hortus is a green oasis in the middle of the city, also for many bird species. Grebes, greenfinches, great spotted woodpeckers, tree creepers and even goldcrests find refuge here.

Would you like to see these birds with your own eyes? Biologist Mattie and his colleagues will take you on a birdwatching excursion through the garden. You will learn to recognise different birds (including by their calls) and learn which species occur where. Binoculars and bird books are included in the excursions (but you are also welcome to bring your own binoculars).

For this birding adventure, the Hortus will open extra early – at 9:00 a.m., when it is still nice and quiet.
The bird excursion is suitable for all ages.
