Guided tour: Cape fynbos - a botanical wonderland

Who better to tell you about Cape fynbos than a botanist from South Africa?

With experience in giving guided tours of the fynbos and working in botanical conservation in government and NGO’s, Rupert Koopman will take you on a journey through the remarkable stories about these plants, based on the Cape collection in our Climate House.

The Cape region is a botanical wonderland with a huge variety of endemic plant species. From the grass-like Restionaceae to the impressive Proteaceae and the colourful Ericaceae: all these plant families contribute to the unique character of the fynbos. Although this ecosystem is under pressure, efforts to preserve and protect it remain of great importance. Through greater awareness and nature conservation, we can ensure that this special flora continues to flourish for future generations.
