FAQ Hortus 15 dec

The Hortus is temporarily closed 15 December 2020 to 20 April 2021

In line with the new RIVM measures, the Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam will be closed from Tuesday 15 December 2020 to 20 April 2021. Of course we hope that this will remain at a short time of closure so that you will be able to visit the Hortus again soon.

Frequently asked questions

How long will you remain closed?

We will remain closed at least until 20 April. We are following government guidelines in this matter. Should there be any new developments, we will share them via this website and our social media.

I have already bought a ticket online for this period?

Did you buy a ticket between 15 December 2020 to 20 April 2021? Tickets for the Hortus are valid until one year after the purchase date. To change the date of your e-ticket, please contact us by email at info@dehortus.nl, stating the date on your ticket and your new date of choice in this email.

Did you buy a free ticket (such as a reservation for Friend, ICOM or IAmsterdam)? Your ticket will expire, if you want to visit us after this closure, you can book a new (free) ticket and time slot through our webshop.

Tickets for the Hortus are valid for one year. Unfortunately we cannot refund money for tickets already purchased.

I already bought a ticket for a tour / event with you?

All public activities such as workshops and guided tours in the period 15 December 2020 to 20 April 2021 will be cancelled or postponed. Participants will be informed about this.

We will continue part of our offer online. Please check out our Hortus at Home website.

I have booked a business event / rented a room at the Hortus?

The Orangery is closed until further notice. Our business event team will contact you about this. If you have any questions, please contact zaalverhuur@dehortus.nl.

I have booked a wedding photoshoot?

Because the Hortus is closed, photo shoots/wedding shoots can temporarily not take place. Our room rental department will contact you about this. If you have any questions, please contact zaalverhuur@dehortus.nl.

Will your programme / presentation remain unchanged after 20 April?

Unfortunately, the winter event Hortus by Night can no longer take place in the year 2020. Visitors with a Hortus by Night ticket will be informed about this by e-mail.

As soon as we can open again, all our planned activities will continue.

Is the Orangery closed?

In line with the measures of the government and the guidelines of the RIVM on café/restaurants, the Orangery is closed until further notice.

Is the Hortus Store closed as well?

Yes, the Hortus Store is closed until further notice.

We hope to welcome you back to the Hortus soon.

The corona crisis affects us all. De Hortus earns the main part of its income from its visitors; from entrance tickets, a cup of coffee or lunch in the Orangery, participation in workshops or from renting out rooms. With a closure all this will disappear.
