Greenhouse concert – Matteo Myderwyk (piano)

14 August

Our Greenhouse concerts are back! This summer, the Hortus is once again hosting a series of classical concerts in the Palm greenhouse. You can enjoy a relaxing music session underneath ancient palms and cycads. Bring your own mat or your favorite pillow and settle yourself in a nice spot in the greenhouse.

A lay down and listen concert is a unique and personal experience where all your senses are stimulated. Listen to the sound of the music, feel the warmth of the sun and the cool breeze in the greenhouse, smell the greenery around you and dream away.

Last year, pianist Matteo Myderwyk was the first Dutch pianist to release a solo album (Notes of Longing) with the renowned international label Warner Classics. His years of training as a classical pianist at the conservatoire in Tilburg (Academy of Music and Performing Arts) taught him above all to go beyond the music of his heroes Bach, Liszt and Messiaen and to find his own musical language. He decided to throw off all the classic rules. The most important lesson he learned in this experimental period: music is not written on paper, but is made in the moment.
